chapters_to_map

Either a chapter list itself, or the name of one, e.g.
<code>icd9_sub_chapters</code>

Single logical value, if <code>TRUE</code>, the default, only
officially defined ICD-9 (currently ICD-9-CM) codes will be used in the
expansion, not any syntactically possible ICD-9 code.

The chapter headings can be converted into the full set of their children,
and then used to look-up which chapter, sub-chapter, or 'major' a given code
belongs. Always returns a map with short-form ICD-9 codes. These can be
converted in bulk with <code>lapply</code> and <code>short_to_decimal</code>.

Calculate comorbidities, medical risk scores, and
work very quickly and precisely with ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes. This
package enables a work flow from raw tables of ICD codes in hospital
databases to comorbidities. ICD-9 and ICD-10 comorbidity mappings from
Quan (Deyo and Elixhauser versions), Elixhauser and AHRQ included.
Common ambiguities and code formats are handled. Comorbidity
computation includes Hierarchical Condition Codes, and an
implementation of AHRQ Clinical Classifications. Risk scores include
those of Charlson and van Walraven.  US Clinical Modification, Word
Health Organization, Belgian and French ICD-10 codes are supported,
most of which are downloaded on demand.
