The class <code>"functionXal"</code> is a class of functionals (typically
 integrals) typically of <code>functionX</code> functions.
Since the <code>functionX</code> functions typically also depend on tuning
 parameters, objects of this class (<code>"functionXal"</code>) are functions
 of these tuning parameters.
